Creating a great retail display takes Point of Sale Design skills, layout planning and an eye for detail.

The purpose of a Point of Sales display is to engage your target audience and encourage them to want to buy the product. A Point of Sales display

not only shows the product in question but makes it stand out from all the other options within a store.

Creating successful Point of Sale displays doesn’t come easy, as there is a lot of planning and evaluating involved to create the perfect POS stand. Below are some points to enable you to achieve this when you create point of sale design displays

Consider the product characteristics

Take the time to study the product or service. What does it do? Who is going to buy it? What are its physical dimensions, weight etc. Think about the brand’s colour scheme. Will a display look better in matching colours or will contrasting colours make it stand out more in a crowded retail environment? Is it a really popular or well know brand? If so it may be important to bring the brand’s design and logos into the Point of Sale display.

Take a long hard look at it. Does it stack well? Will it look better stacked on shelves, hung from a hook, standing on the floor, loose in a bin? What about height? Practicality

You need to be able to fit as many products as possible on the display (the cheaper the product, the more that need to be sold). The Point Of Sale (POS) Display needs to be displayed in a focal point in the shop. It needs to be shopper friendly – a brilliantly designed display that makes it hard to reach the product will yield poor sales. Children’s product displays need to have the products closer to the ground so that they are in their eye level, so that they are the ones picking the items up.

Positioning

When products are browsed at and taken from the Point of Sale display (POS) it is essential that it can be easily  re-stocked, tidied and positioned in a hot spot area such as by the tills or at the main entrance of the store. Due to this you will need to ensure the design is not too bulky or space consuming as you will be limiting the amount of spaces stores can place it.

Eye catching design

Many free standing Point of Sales displays successfully pull customers in, driving sales, by having bold and inviting imagery. For some displays they will illustrate ways in which the products can be used, perhaps with a visual guide illustrated photograph.  Make sure the designs are big and bold so that they can be seen from a distance as this will draw customers in.

Shelving

Some objects stack well in small box style shelving systems whilst others may need longer, wider shelves. Alternatively you may get more products per space if they are hung in neat rows. It’s not just about how they look, as these displays are built to be shopped from, its important that they have enough storage space and that the shelves are deep enough to hold as much stock as possible. We need to minimise the amount of times these need to be replenished.
